2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Facilitate appointment bookings and consultations

3. Information Sharing
We share your information only in the following circumstances:
With Healthcare Providers
Your health information is shared with doctors you book appointments with to facilitate your care. Doctors can view your medical profile to provide better consultations.
With Payment Processors
Payment information is shared with MTN Mobile Money and Airtel Money to process transactions. We do not store your mobile money PIN.
Legal Requirements
We may disclose information when required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
We never sell your personal or health information to third parties for marketing purposes.
4. Data Security
We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data:
- End-to-end encryption for sensitive data
- Secure cloud storage with access controls
- Regular security audits and updates
- OTP-based authentication
- Biometric lock option (fingerprint/face)
- Automatic session timeout
5. Data Retention
We retain your data for the following periods:
- Account information: Until you delete your account
- Medical records: 7 years (as required by Ugandan law)
- Transaction records: 5 years (financial regulations)
- Usage analytics: 2 years
6. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your personal data
- Correct inaccurate information
- Request deletion of your account
- Export your health records
- Opt out of promotional communications
- Withdraw consent for data processing

7. Account Deletion
You can request deletion of your UGDoctor account at any time:
- In-app: Go to Settings > Account > Delete Account
- Email: Send request to privacy@ugdoctor.com
Upon deletion request:
- Your account will be deactivated immediately
- A 30-day grace period allows you to cancel and recover your account
- After 30 days, your personal data will be permanently deleted
- Medical records may be retained as required by Ugandan healthcare regulations
8. Children's Privacy
UGDoctor is not intended for children under 18 without parental or guardian supervision. Parents or guardians can create accounts on behalf of minors and manage their health information.
9. Cookies & Tracking
Our mobile app may use:
- Analytics to understand app usage
- Crash reporting tools for stability
- Push notification services
You can manage these preferences in Settings > Notifications.
10. Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party services including:
- Supabase (secure data storage)
- Firebase (authentication & notifications)
- MTN & Airtel (payment processing)
These providers have their own privacy policies and are bound by data protection agreements with us.
11. International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed on servers located outside Uganda. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
12. Policy Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated through the App or via SMS. Your continued use of UGDoctor after such updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
